Advanced noise alarms — named profiles in dB Pulse Pro
dB Pulse Pro adds up to three named alarm profiles with optional time-of-day windows. They help organize different reminder thresholds, but they still depend on active measurement and notification availability; a schedule does not create continuous background monitoring.

| Question | What to know |
|---|---|
| Plan | Pro. |
| Profiles | Up to three named thresholds with optional time windows. |
| Overlap | Lowest threshold among currently applicable profiles. |
| Fallback | Basic Smart Alarm threshold when no profile window applies. |
Name the routine, not a safety guarantee
Advanced Alarms is available with Pro in the app’s Settings workflow. Add a threshold profile, give it a recognizable name and choose its level. Names such as a workspace or rehearsal routine can help you select the right context without pretending the value is a legal limit for that activity.
A threshold is a personal reminder setting. Do not name a profile in a way that implies the app has certified the environment or decided what is medically safe. The same numerical threshold can mean different things depending on calibration, microphone placement and the duration of exposure.
Add an optional time window
A profile can be active during a chosen part of the day. Use the window when a reminder belongs to a particular routine, and review the saved start and end times. The source supports windows that cross midnight; it does not justify promising an automatic workweek calendar or location-based switching.
A time window controls which saved threshold is considered while the meter runs. It does not schedule the phone to start measuring an unattended room. Open the app and confirm the current meter input before relying on a profile for a real check.
Understand overlapping profiles
When more than one profile is in its active window, the source resolves the lowest active threshold. That is the most restrictive reminder level, not a calculation of combined safety limits. If no saved window applies, the basic Smart Alarm threshold is used instead.
Review overlaps before assuming a notification came from the profile you most recently edited. A profile with no time window can remain applicable throughout the day and therefore affect a more limited profile. Keeping names and windows simple makes the behavior easier to reason about.
Keep the basic alert enabled
The named profiles extend the sustained-noise alert workflow. Check Enable Noise Alerts and the device’s notification permission, then verify the setup without generating hazardous test sound. A saved profile is not itself a guarantee that iOS will present every notification.
The app’s measurement lifecycle stops metering when it leaves the foreground. Accordingly, do not use a night-time window as a promise of overnight surveillance or a profile called Workshop as a substitute for occupational monitoring. For those purposes, choose equipment and procedures intended to operate reliably in that setting.
Decide whether Pro fits your routine
The free app already includes the basic sustained-noise alert. Pro is useful when maintaining several named contexts and windows is more convenient than changing one setting manually. The current limit is three named profiles, not an unlimited automation engine.
Use reminders to prompt an environmental check and a practical response. Reducing source noise, changing position and using suitable hearing protection should not depend on waiting for a notification from a consumer phone. The reading remains an estimate, even with an organized alarm schedule.
