Copy a decibel reading on iPhone — dB Pulse
Copy reading is a free dB Pulse action that puts the current decibel value on the iPhone clipboard. The Meter screen shows a Copied confirmation, making it a quick way to paste an observation into a note or message.

| What is copied | The current decibel reading. |
| What it is not | A full session summary or certified measurement. |

| For a timeline | Save a session instead. |
Copy the reading you actually mean
Open Meter, check that the microphone is active and let the display settle. Use Copy reading when the current value is the observation you want to keep. The copied value is a momentary reading; it is not automatically a session average, maximum or noise-dose result.
After copying, open your preferred notes or messaging app and paste. Add a few words such as the location, source setting and microphone position. A copied number becomes more useful when it is attached to a question you can repeat, such as comparing the same fan from the same chair.
Keep context outside the clipboard
The clipboard is convenient transport rather than a measurement archive. Copying another item can replace the value, and a pasted value by itself does not explain the duration or settings. Use a saved session when you need the timeline and its associated measurement information.
If you are comparing rooms, write down which reading belongs to which room before moving. If the sound is changing quickly, note that the value was a momentary observation. Do not relabel it as an average just because you watched the display for a while.
Use a larger workflow only when needed
Copy reading is free and does not require Pro. Quick Measure offers a brief snapshot with a share workflow; session export is the route for structured data. Choosing the simplest option avoids sending a full report when a personal reminder would do.
A precise-looking number still comes from an approximate phone measurement. Copying it adds no calibration or legal status. For an official complaint, workplace assessment or hearing concern, use the appropriate professional route rather than treating clipboard text as certified evidence. Review recipients before sending, particularly if you add personal names or locations.
