Session titles and notes — organize dB Pulse Pro measurements

dB Pulse Pro includes session titles and notes so your measurements carry the context you would otherwise have to remember. Notes explain how a session was taken; they do not change its readings or prove the cause of a sound.

Make the title easy to recognize later

Open the saved session in Sessions and use its title and notes fields. Choose a short factual title that distinguishes the event or comparison. A useful title names what you actually observed rather than claiming a violation or a medical outcome the app cannot establish.

If you repeat a check, keep a naming pattern. Include a room or source setting where that helps identify the entry, but avoid personal details that are not necessary. A reader should understand which observation the title refers to without needing access to your entire history.

Record the details that affect comparison

Start with microphone placement, distance from the source, whether doors or windows were open and the source’s operating state. Add the relevant weighting and whether you checked the setup against a reference. If you changed microphones, write that down; an accessory change can explain a numerical difference.

Note interruptions as well. If you moved the phone or the measurement stopped, the session should not be described as uninterrupted coverage. A note acknowledging uncertainty is more useful than a confident label that hides the limits of the observation.

Separate observations from interpretations

Write what happened first: a machine started, someone opened a door or the source was switched to another setting. Then label any interpretation as a question or hypothesis. A peak on the chart coinciding with an event can be informative without proving that event was the only source.

This approach is especially helpful when sharing a report with someone who was not present. They can review the context rather than infer it from an unexplained maximum. A clear description often matters more than adding extra decimal places to the number.

Keep notes with the appropriate output

Pro report export can carry session information and notes into a readable document. Review the generated report before sending to confirm that your intended context is included and understandable. A CSV is principally a sample table, so keep any separate explanation with it when sharing.

Notes are a Pro feature. The free app still provides live measurement and recent session access. Choosing Pro for organization does not certify the underlying measurements or turn them into a hearing assessment. Use appropriate professional methods whenever a legal or safety decision depends on the result.
